History:  Arthur doesn't remember much of his past, he has blocked out most of the memories and likes to look forward in his life. Like some mutants he was born with a physical mutation which caused his parents to not treat him very well. While still at the hospital before he was more than a few days old his parents gave the doctors permission to remove the unsightly tentacles growing out of his back. The surgery was successful, but the affects lasted only a short while. In little more than a month the tentacles had grown back. For much of his life he was locked in his house, in his room most of the time with the windows boarded up. His parents maintained the story that Arthur was mentally handicapped and prone to violence against anyone but his own parents. Arthur's father would have nothing to with him and rarely entered Arthur's room. His mother was a little better in that she would sometimes come in and read to him when his father was away, but Arthur knew he was a prisoner. Once Arthur was old enough, about 13, and once he had worked up enough courage, he broke out and ran away from home; his mother had forgot to lock the door when she left from one of her short visits. He has been out on his own for quite a while, living mostly on what the ocean has provided him with. He sometimes stole, but usually only clothes, or when he wanted something other than raw fish to eat. He eventually spent long days at the library when he could get away with it, always being carefully not to get caught by truant officers or anyone else that might try to take him back home, or to another home. He taught himself to read and has a great interest in books; even more so when he found a book that taught him how to speed read. Arthur can only do basic addition and subtraction; he has mostly stayed away from the subjects of math and sciences. Arthur has missed out on many things, mostly the social aspects of life, he has become used to being alone for long periods of time.

Personality:  Arthur is still a bit reclusive--he has been out on his own for a while, and has never really had any friends. Once you break through his shyness he's a nice guy to be around. Since he's found that his tentacles creep most people out, even other mutants, he usually keeps them rolled up under his shirt, which is most often several sizes bigger than it would need to be for someone his size. This often gives him the appearance having a humped back.
