Powers: Quicksilver is a mutant who possesses the superhuman capacity to think and move at great speeds. His entire body is adapted towards the rigors of high-speed running. His cardiovascular and respiratory systems are many times more efficient than those of a normal human being. He metabolizes an estimated 95% of the caloric energy content of foodstuffs (normal human use is about 25%). The chemical processes of Quicksilver's musculature are so highly enhanced that his body does not generate fatigue poisons, the normal by-products of locomotion, which force the body to rest. Rather, his body constantly expels waste products during his accelerated respiration through exhalation. His joints are smoother and lubricated more efficiently than those of a normal human being. His tendons have the tensile strength of spring steel. His bones contain unknown materials significantly more durable than calcium to withstand the dynamic shocks of his feet touching the ground at speeds of over 100 miles per hour. Quicksilver's practical reaction time is about five times faster than a normal human's and the speed at which his brain processes information is heightened to a level commensurate with his bodily speed, enabling him to perceive his surroundings while traveling at high velocities. Quicksilver's lachrymose is more viscous than normal, thus preventing rapid evaporation and replenishment of surface fluids on his eyeballs under the influence of high wind velocity to occlude his vision.

History: Pietro Lensherr was born in 1968 in Wundagore to his mother Magda Lensherr. Magda Lensherr was at the time in refuge in the Wundagore Mountain from her husband Erik Lensherr (Magneto) who had previously gone into a mad frenzy after his first child, Anya, died in a fire. The Lensherr twins, Wanda and Pietro, were taken in by Bova, a servant of the High Evolutionary. After birth, Magda fled Wundagore in order to continue to avoid Erik, however the perils of the wilderness proved too difficult and she died. The High Evolutionary gave the children over to Django and Marya Maximoff a Roma couple who would raise the twins for the years ahead. The twins were brought up with no knowledge of their birth parents, and were under the impression that the Maximoff's were indeed their true parents. Years later, the now 11 year old twins were contacted by a man named Erik Lensherr who claimed to be their father. While reluctant at first to believe the man, the reassurance from the High Evolutionary and the uncanny resemblance of Pietro to the man proved enough reason to believe it. While the Maximoff's were reluctant to allow the children they had raised to be taken away, in the end they allowed it, believing that the children would be better off with their true father. Erik had recently lost a close friend of his, Charles Xavier, and had decided to live out the dreams of a dead man. Erik was impressed with Wundagore and decided to enter negotiations with the High Evolutionary, in order to construct a school to become a safe haven for mutants, and to ultimately allow for Xavier's dream to be lived out. The children lived with their father and began to be trained by him for what Erik ultimately hoped would lead to them becoming the first students and leaders in the school. Rumors of a UFO began circulating amongst the citizenry in the earth, and plans for the Wundagore School's construction had to rapidly advance and open earlier than was expected. A now 20 year old Pietro, and his sister Wanda, became the first two students at the school. Pietro took on the name of Quicksilver, and his sister took on the name of Scarlet Witch.

Pietro is a determined, strong-willed person with an uncanny knack for leadership. Pietro has developed a slightly more open personality and ability to communicate with others without having any fear of breaking the ice in a conversation. His mutant powers sometimes cause his speech to be more rapid than normal, although he has trained himself to speak at a normal pace in order to communicate with other people. Pietro unfortunately takes after his father in that he is very impatient and quick tempered, which sometimes leads to rather quick decisions that are not always the best decisions. Pietro is very emotional at times, especially with his protectiveness of his twin sister Wanda. Should harm come before them, Pietro would not think twice about protecting his sister from harm's way.
